The Shama Women’s Centre

Charles Strachan Solicitors are delighted to be working in collaboration with De Montfort University in Leicester this year.

Priya Parmar of our family department has been working closely with De Montfort University and the Shama Women’s Centre in Leicester.

The Shama Women’s Centre provide support to vulnerable women in life changing situations. Their mission is ‘to empower women to become more active, economically, educationally and socially, through a range of activities to develop their confidence, employability skills, health and wellbeing.’

Priya has been running monthly clinics at the Shama Women’s Centre offering her legal expertise and assistance. She is supported by second and final year Law students from De Montfort University, who applied to be part of the programme.

This is such a great opportunity to use our legal knowledge to help and support the local community in Leicester whilst also encouraging the next generation of aspiring legal professionals.
